Sir Lancelot - Most Noble of them all

Sir Lancelot, can be found in a number of fictions, movies etc as one of the most trusted of King Arthur. It was played by various actors but I find Santiago Cabrera's appearance in historical masterpiece TV show "Merlin", as the most touching and attractive piece of acting.

Sir Lancelot loves Guinevere, who happens to be King Arthur's love too. Once, Sir Lancelot and King Arthur set off for a quest which might end up losing lives of both of them. Before they set off, Guinevere requests Lancelot to look after King Arthur and he in return promises to do so on his life.

In this quest, a do or die situation arises, either Arthur or Lancelot has to sacrifice life for the other to leave alive. Lancelot as a true and noble lover, sacrifices himself in order to protect the life of his King and the lover of Guinevere keeping his last promise.

Sir. Lancelot does not appear in the last few episodes of Merlin. But he has managed to keep his signature and memory till the very end due to his noble behavior.

Love is not always about grabbing what one thinks belonging to him. Love might be selfish sometimes. But the deepest feeling in love, the truest noble love, will always let go. What is right is what actually feels good. If Sir Lancelot has allowed king Arthur to die, he would return safely and also might be able to marry Guinevere. But he will have to live with the guilt for letting Arthur die, for the rest of his life. Instead, he chooses a noble sacrifice which is undoubtedly the most touching expression of true love, I have ever seen in fiction world.
